Union Mutual Partners with Flo by Moen for Smart Home Water Security Program
MONTPELIER, Vt. & CULVER CITY, Calif. – Union Mutual and Flo Technologies, the leader in smart home water loss prevention recently announced a partnership to provide qualifying customers with a discounted Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff and professional installation by a verified plumber from the Moen Plumbing Network. The Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff installs on the home’s main water line to prevent water damage and water loss by proactively detecting micro-leaks and other vulnerabilities anywhere in a home’s water supply.
“In my 20-plus years in the insurance business, I have seen tens of millions of dollars spent repairing thousands of water damage claims, from freshly renovated kitchens destroyed by a leaking toilet, basements literally filled with water due to a burst pipe while the homeowner is away on vacation, to extensive rot damage caused by a slow, undetected leak,” said Jeff Pryce, Vice President of Claims for Union Mutual. “Flo by Moen was designed to prevent all of the above. This is the loss prevention device the insurance industry and every homeowner has been waiting for.”
“Having experienced catastrophic water damage myself, I know firsthand how expensive it can be and how much damage it can cause to the home,” said Gabe Halimi, CEO and Co-Founder of Flo Technologies. “And with water damage seven times more likely to occur than theft and seven times more likely than fire, we are committed to helping our customers avoid that situation at all costs. We are pleased to take that commitment one step further with our partnership with Union Mutual to bring their customers affordable smart home water security.”
When a homeowner has the Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff installed in their home, the chances they will need to file a water damage claim with their insurance company significantly decrease. This new program provides customers with easy access to the Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff and helps ensure neither customer nor insurance provider will have to file or pay out costly water damage claims.
Flo Technologies’ partnership with Union Mutual is available to customers living in New England and New York. Click here to learn more about the partnership.
Update as of 9/1/2021: Moen has ended the Flo by Moen program, but the device remains available at retail stores nationwide and qualifies as a smart home device for our Smart Home Device Deductible Credit.
